Because this is now the most complete directory in New York for free food, with about 3–4 times as many locations as many popular lists.
Many people in need avoid going to pantries, so I collected free food resources of all kinds in one place. Many don't require ID.

Why I made this
Hi, I'm Tom, a photographer from Oceanside, NY.
I started this after talking to people who had limited food resources. Most knew about exactly one pantry — usually far away, open once a month, with very little to offer. So I set out to find what their real options were.
After a month of research, I had a full pantry directory. But I knew food was not the main issue. Running out of money was. So I built the rest of the site to help people work toward some financial stability, not just their next meal.
