Start here: Use DEP's eligibility checker or the instructions in the DEP/DDC letter and schedule the contractor inspection.
Eligibility: Only property owners who receive a DEP eligibility letter or qualifying DDC contact can currently sign up. DEP targets specific geographic areas.
What you get
The city arranges inspection, qualifying service-line replacement and related restoration through its contractor.
Benefit: A lead or galvanized private service line replaced with copper at no cost to the eligible property owner.
Possible value: DEP says private service-line replacement can cost more than $8,000, so participation can save thousands.
Good to know
Important: Finding a lead line on the city map does not by itself mean the property is currently eligible for the free program. Tenants cannot enroll the property themselves.
