Get Up to $30,000 to Elevate or Rebuild a Flood-Damaged Home!
NFIP Increased Cost of Compliance coverage can provide up to $30,000 when a covered building in a Special Flood Hazard Area must meet current floodplain standards after substantial or repeated flood damage.
Who
NFIP policyholders with qualifying buildings in Special Flood Hazard Areas that the local floodplain official determines are substantially or repetitively damaged under the program rules.
Where: NFIP-participating communities nationwide
What to do
Start here: After a qualifying flood, ask the local floodplain/building official for the required substantial-damage determination and tell the NFIP insurer you want to pursue an ICC claim.
Eligibility: The insured building must meet ICC's damage and floodplain criteria and the community must require compliance with current floodplain-management standards.
What you get
ICC can help pay for eligible elevation, floodproofing, relocation, demolition or related compliance work required by the community.
Benefit: Up to $30,000 toward eligible compliance work.
Possible value: Up to $30,000, subject to the policy and NFIP building-coverage limits.
Good to know
Important: ICC is part of the Standard Flood Insurance Policy, not a separate universal grant. The combined building claim and ICC payment cannot exceed the applicable NFIP building-coverage limit.
Availability: Active
Why people miss it: Homeowners may know flood insurance pays for damage but not that a separate part of the policy can help pay the added cost of bringing the building into compliance.
