VA Beneficiary Travel can reimburse eligible Veterans and caregivers for mileage and other approved travel expenses to qualifying VA or VA-authorized health care.

Veterans and certain caregivers who meet VA travel-pay eligibility and are traveling for qualifying health care.
What to do
Start here: Set up VA travel-pay direct deposit, keep receipts and file each claim through BTSSS or VA Form 10-3542.
Eligibility: A Veteran must be traveling for qualifying care and meet at least one eligibility route such as a 30%+ VA disability rating, service-connected treatment, VA pension or qualifying financial need.
What you get
Approved claims can cover mileage, parking and tolls plus certain preapproved transportation, meals and lodging.
Benefit: Current mileage reimbursement is 41.5 cents per mile plus other approved expenses.
Possible value: Depends on travel distance and approved costs.
Good to know
Important: Plan to file within 30 days because late claims are usually denied. Current deductibles are generally $3 one-way or $6 round-trip up to $18 per month, with exemptions/waivers in qualifying circumstances.
